China has risen to the second largest country contributing to high-quality science, surpassed only by the United States (Nature Index 2015 ). For genomic research, BGI (Beijing Genomic Institute) has become the largest factory of sequencing in the world. There is a critical need to interpret the sequencing data into knowledge for battling human diseases and improving Agricultural production.
With support from Northeast Agricultural University (NEAU), a workshop will be instructed by Dr. Zhiwu Zhang , one of the world leaders in developing methods and computing tools for Genomic Selection (GS), which is becoming most efficient approach for molecular breeding and risk prediction for human diseases.
This 5-day workshop (December 26-30, 2016) will partially cover the course of “Statistical Genomics (CROPS 545) ” offered by Dr. Zhiwu Zhang at Washington State University. The workshop is designed for people with background in at least one of the three areas: genetics, statistics, and computer programming. Intensive work is expected for people with background in only one of the areas. The onsite participants include the people from NEAU and 45 applicants selected nationwide. The rest can attend the workshop online. Certificate will be given to all participants, either onsite or online with score of 60 and above out of 100. Please read the syllabus for details.
