Undergraduate Student - Ryan Summers

Ryan is an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Statistical Genomics Laboratory in the Department of Crop and Soil Science at Washington State University (WSU) in Pullman, WA. He is a Sophomore at WSU pursuing a degree in Computer Engineering. Ryan is currently developing the Windows version of GAPIT-C and has helped with cross-platform integration. He is responsible for code management and bug testing of the general GAPIT application. Ryan is also involved in the development of code for parallel processing of data to increase algorithm efficiency and program speed. Ryan is main research focuses are on autonomous robotics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. He is researching how to program a robot to learn basic tasks. He is currently designing a robot to autonomously mow lawns with his father. Ryan is a member of the RoboSub club of the Palouse, a group of engineering students designing an autonomous robotic submarine. He currently works with a team designing a passive sonar system, and helps to maintain the microcontroller code. Ryan enjoys the outdoors and exercise in his free time, and loves to go on hikes into the Cascades.
